Street style has to be one of my favorite things about travel. I've recently become re-obsessed with it, and have spent the past couple days scoping out some neat global street style blogs, in which the site/blog creators capture shots of people's day-to-day outfits around the globe. Nothing fake about this, just pure, raw style. I'd personally like to be in every one of those cities, people watching to see the clothing myself, but these blogs are a neat way to wrap it all up and be able to check out what the world is wearing from your own city.
The best thing about street style, in my opinion, is that is truly captures the person's character. Often enough, you'll find crazy outfit photos in these websites, and also stumble upon some pretty cool ones too. Browsing these sites can offer up inspiration on how to mix and match your own outfits, maybe adding a vintage piece or a designer bag to your regular, mainstream clothing.
Most of the cities that are profiled in these blogs are pretty common; London, Paris, New York, Tokyo (Tokyo had WILD street style- used to go nuts over their outfits, anything goes there!) However, some new names are popping up, such as San Francisco, Berlin, Copenhagen,Hong Kong, Tel Aviv, etc. It's really interesting to see not only the contrast between cities, but the similarities.
It's really inspiring to see that people around the world can look so fashionable, but so easygoing at the same time. We see magazine ads all the time, showing us perfectly coiffed hair and matching outfits that we should wear, but when if you sit at a sidewalk café in a city halfway across the world, you're probably going to see anything BUT that. People really know how to infuse their own character into their clothing, and that is something that can speak wonders about your personality. So how about you, what does your style say about you? And where do you pull your inspiration from?
I'm personally on the cusp- I pull a lot of my looks from Paris; a lot of black, cozy scarves, cute dresses etc. but I'm really interested in seeing what people are wearing in more of Eastern Europe and towards the Middle East. (Istanbul, Cairo, Dubai!)
Next time you go on a trip (and not to a resort, because that doesn't really count) make a point to check out what people are wearing, you'd be surprised at how much you learn about the lifestyles of the locals!
